DeshGujarat reported on 10 July 2026 that the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, said at a review meeting in Gandhinagar that work on extending the Ahmedabad to Dholera expressway onwards to Bhavnagar will begin within the next three months.

More than twenty firms turned up to Western Railway's pre-bid meeting for the Dholera semi high-speed line

DeshGujarat reported on 29 May 2026 that Western Railway held a pre-bid meeting with prospective bidders for the Sarkhej to Dholera semi high-speed broad gauge double line, attended by more than 20 firms from civil, electrical and signalling backgrounds, with the chief administrative officer for construction saying EPC tenders would be floated soon.

The 109 km Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway (NH-751) was reported inaugurated by the Prime Minister on 31 March 2026 and is operational, cutting the drive from roughly two hours to somewhere between 40 minutes and an hour depending on the source.

A Press Information Bureau release of 27 February 2026 from the road transport ministry states that the expressway had been opened to the public for testing purposes while final operational readiness was assessed, five weeks before the inauguration on 31 March 2026.
